Justin Ryan & Julia Maelzer are running a small backpackers over summer down on the Otago Rail Trail. The city, town, village, collection of houses is called Oturehua and it is 25 k from Ranfurly.
Our backpackers is called the Crow’s Nest and we have a large shared dorm that can sleep 12 to 14. Two self contained cabins (Jack & Jill) each with a double bed, small cooking facility, and bathroom. We can fit in another single into the room but they are small cabins. There is also a Bach (bit rough around the edges but warm and cosy inside). This has a double and single bed. Its own cooking facility (semi outside) but you must share the toilet and shower with the backpackers. We also have a large tent site where we plan to host next years Easter ride called the Grass Monkey.
There is a great pub down the road who produce some excellent food. This is run by Grahame & Liz Jones who are from Christchurch and recently moved down there.
